A Lab Is a Chain, Not a Button

Drug discovery is not a single act but a chain of stages: choosing a biological target, searching for molecules that affect it, refining those molecules, and testing them in the lab. Each stage produces a result that determines what the next stage should be. Some stages are mainly thinking and computation; others require physical experiments at a bench. Because every stage feeds the next, the lab behaves like a pipeline rather than an isolated action.
