Data Privacy and Security

2 / 5
AI needs data, but whose data? When companies collect our information, they promise anonymity. But AI is incredibly good at finding patterns. Watch this animation: seemingly harmless dots representing anonymous data start connecting. Zip codes, purchase history, and movement patterns link together until a single person is revealed. This is the privacy paradox: the very data that powers helpful AI also threatens our personal security.

The Privacy Paradox

Modern AI thrives on data. The more personal information an AI has—location, health records, browsing habits—the better its predictions. However, this creates significant privacy risks. Even when data is 'anonymized', advanced AI techniques can often re-identify individuals by cross-referencing multiple datasets. Furthermore, mass data collection enables unprecedented levels of surveillance and profiling.

Re-identification Risk

Removing names and social security numbers does not guarantee anonymity. Studies have shown that combining zip code, birth date, and gender can uniquely identify a large percentage of the population. AI makes this linking process faster and more accurate.
